The Bay has really surprised me with how much it actually works. Being out in nature makes a massive difference to my mental health, as well as being around other people who understand my struggles. It’s a great thing to be involved in and I enjoy it so much.

The Bay: A blueprint for recovery offers wellbeing sessions around Morecambe Bay for those experiencing problems with their mental health as well as experiencing isolation and loneliness. We strive to connect people with each other as well as the beautiful wild world just outside their front door.
Supporting our wellbeing sessions, we also offer a range of larger community events to showcase the biodiversity of the bay, and have a range of resources available for you to download and use in your own time, including wildlife spotter sheets.
Morecambe Bay is an incredibly biodiverse area, with the UK's largest expanse of intertidal mudflats providing a richly stocked stop off for thousands of migrating wading birds every year, and we're lucky enough to be home to the North West's only grey seal colony up on Walney Island near Barrow.
Our wellbeing service is delivered in partnership with Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, and was developed in collaboration with Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, and the Eden Project, with support from player's of People's Postcode Lottery through the Postcode Recovery Fund.
