Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

May 13th-19th is Mental Health Awareness Week, and the theme this year is Movement: Moving more for our mental health

We know that being active is really important. The physical health benefits from doing a 30-minute walk every day include better heart health, stronger bones, and reducing risk of conditions such as type 2 diabetes.

Being active is also really important for our mental health – it helps us feel calmer and more content while also increasing positive moods like enthusiasm and alertness, and getting out into nature increases the benefits massively.

This week we’ll be sharing stories about how movement has helped people’s wellbeing, lots of suggestions of beautiful places to take a walk around and more.

Joining our wellbeing sessions and being outside more has really made a difference to Mark.

He really enjoys the group and he has been extremely isolated for a number of years and not gone out or socialised at all. The group has enabled him to be outdoors learning about nature which he enjoys and also to be able to meet like minded people.

He really looks forward to the wellbeing sessions and it is now an important part of his life and has improved his mental wellbeing.
