What an incredible first two months it has been for the new community engagement officer, Jane (Wyre). Originally from Fleetwood, Jane has been thrilled to be able to fly the flag for nature in her home town and get to know the local community and outstanding community groups all over again.
Wyre blog: March roundup
From Skylarks to Shark eggs, coastal foraging to community engagement, it has been full of nature and beautiful scenery. Exciting events are now up and running at least one per week in Fleetwood and expanding out all around the Wyre Estuary in the coming months. As we lead up to the months of summer, we can look forward to Wellbeing walks with fantastic volunteers, butterfly and bird walks, sea watches and storytimes.
The whole Bay team has been so welcoming!
Jane has also helped out on some Nature and Wellbeing sessions. They have been going from strength to strength with groups loving doing activities at Tower Wood and Rossall Point Tower. The groups are small and friendly, super welcoming, inclusive and non judgemental. Activities have included; habitat improvement, environmental arts. A place where people can boost their own wellbeing and help the natural environment at the same time.
"Such an amazing group with equally as lovely staff! It's definitely helped my mental health massively. It has allowed me and many others to grow in confidence, meet new people, learn new skills and to just connect with nature. It's perfect for the mind, body and soul. I really would be lost without them" - Sophia, nature and wellbeing participant
Nature is an incredibly healing and mindful environment and we would love for you to come and enjoy the stunning coastline right alongside us. The Wyre team cannot wait to see you soon!
